*This position is eligible for a hybrid flex arrangement* The salary range for this position is:- Recruitment range: $80,369 to $88,612. Starting salary is determined in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
- Performance range: Up to $104,529. Progression beyond the recruitment range is available through annual performance increases, in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
Job Summary
Mandate:Practica Coordinators work as part of a team and are responsible for securing and coordinating quality practice placements for students in undergraduate and graduate programs that match curriculum learning goals and align with the student's career aspirations. This role builds and maintains relationships with a network of resource people in various health and educational institutions across Canada to provide rich learning environments and opportunities for practica students to grow professionally. Practica Coordinators also work closely with faculty, student advisors, and administrative staff to assure policies, practices, and handbooks are updated and best practices are followed.
Objectives:- Liaise with nursing leaders and practicum coordinators from health authorities, partner agencies, health practitioners, colleges, and universities to secure and facilitate quality practicum placements for students.
- Provide information and resources for preceptors, field guides, and host educators who work directly with students.
- Track practice placement requests, completion of hours, and academic course prerequisites through databases and correspondence.
- Liaise with the student advisors regarding student eligibility for practice, calendar changes for practice requirements, and information to students.
- Working conditions may include occasional travel and evening or weekend work to represent the School to promote practice education placements.
Job Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor of Nursing degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. In addition, this role requires an active registration and in good standing as a registered nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) or be eligible for and commit to achieving registration. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities- Knowledge and awareness of trends in nursing education and health care practice environments, and innovative practice education models including Collaborative Learning Units (CLUs).
- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
- Demonstrated nursing professional experience preferably within community health and primary care nursing roles and settings.
- Demonstrated superior communication and conflict resolution skills, both written and verbal with the ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion.
- Strong ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with diverse collaborators including faculty, staff, and partner units.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment to support the goals of the School of Nursing and the University's Strategic Plan.
- Excellent and demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills within a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and strong skills in the use of MS Office applications and experience with complex databases.
Assets:- A graduate degree in a related field
- Additional experience in advanced practice education and leadership roles
- An understanding of UVic systems (such as FAST, Banner, HSD Data Apex database, PebblePad), online technologies, and distance education tools.
- Experience working professionally within a post-secondary environment.
