About the role:eBay is seeking a
PR Specialist to become part of its global communications team, focusing on two key company priorities: Collectibles and eBay Live!
In this position, you'll work closely with regional and global colleagues across communications, marketing, brand, and business units. You'll cooperate with teammates in the U.S., UK, Germany, France, and Italy as part of a highly connected global function. The role is based in San Jose and reports to a Senior Manager.
This is an individual contributor role built for someone with 4-6 years of experience who is ready to broaden their scope and ownership over time. You'll have clear opportunities to build strength in strategy, storytelling, and managing relationships with collaborators. You will move toward a role passionate about critical communications within a global team.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about media relations and storytelling. They possess a deep knowledge of the media environment and can tie cultural moments in sports, entertainment, collectibles, and live commerce to relevant news stories.
You'll be part of a collaborative, fast paced team that values trust, curiosity, and impact. eBay offers a hybrid work environment with three days in-office and two days remote!
What you will accomplish:- Assist in advancing eBay's consumer narrative and value proposition, emphasizing Collectibles and eBay Live, and maintaining a balance between category details and overarching business objectives.
- Execute integrated communications strategies and campaigns that extend beyond traditional PR, leveraging data, insights, and emerging tools (including AI) to drive consideration of the marketplace through earned media.
- Collaborate closely with consumer PR teammates, vertical leads, and corporate and internal communications partners.
- Partner with marketing and business unit teams to provide thoughtful, strategic counsel and executional support.
- Manage global agency partners on key campaigns and initiatives.
- Build and maintain positive connections with media across pop culture, enthusiast, lifestyle, and more.
What you will bring:- Possess 4-6 years of consumer PR experience, preferably including both agency and in-house settings.
- Demonstrate a keen enthusiasm for pop culture, sports, TCG, and/or collectibles.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the media landscape, with a track record of proactive storytelling and reactive press management.
- Monitor and assess media coverage alongside pop culture and technology trends. Use this insight to guide and advance eBay's consumer PR initiatives for collectibles and eBay Live.
- Have excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Be a proactive, organized self-starter who can prioritize multiple demands and move with urgency.
- Have experience and/or willingness to incorporate marketplace data and insights into storytelling (with the support of a data analyst).
- Be comfortable working cross-functionally and across time zones in a dynamic, global environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to connect business priorities to cultural and industry trends to build compelling narratives.
- Have experience driving successful PR strategies and creative campaigns that are strongly rooted in business goals.
- Partner effectively with agency teams to measure impact, translate metrics into insights, and refine strategy.
- Maintain strong relationships with consumer media.
- Demonstrate curiosity and initiative in adopting AI and emerging tools to improve communications workflows, storytelling, and insights, while maintaining strong editorial judgment and brand standards.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field (preferred).
Additional DetailsThe base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$107,200 - $143,100
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
