Role:
This position provides leadership and direction to ensure the safe and efficient utilization of all assets related to power management at the Massena based operations and related Alcoa entities. Tactically, this position advises the Power Systems team to ensure safety and reliability of the power distribution network. Strategically, this position is accountable to drive energy reduction, improvements in energy efficiency and overall energy cost improvement for the facilities.
About the role- Ensure the safe operation of the Rectifier Station and plant high-voltage systems while maintaining and improving reliability.
- Ensure a high level of reliability for stakeholders, including the Potrooms, Casthouse, Electrode departments, and external customers.
- Develop annual operating plans and departmental budgets of approximately $5 million to $6 million.
- Lead associated capital projects, as well as departmental repair and maintenance (R&M) cost control.
- Lead energy compliance efforts, regulatory communications, and adherence to NERC and FERC compliance and standards responsibilities.
- Provide training and development for hourly and salaried plant personnel.
- Maintain NYPA contract development, communications, and operational alignment.
- Apply knowledge of OSHA and related safety regulations (1910.269), including electrical safety requirements for high- and low-voltage systems and arc flash hazard standards.
- Provide electrical safety and high-voltage expertise (Alcoa high-voltage standard 32.60 designee).
- Manage, direct, mentor, lead, train, and empower teams to achieve goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner while continuously improving effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintain oversight of the energy management strategy.
- Maintain oversight of Massena intake and plant processed and potable water systems.
- Maintain oversight of plant-wide arc flash studies.
What you bring to the role
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with high-voltage transmission and distribution systems, as well as rectifier operations.
- Knowledge of NERC BES regulatory compliance requirements for Transmission Owners and Transmission Operators.

Base Salary: 145,200 - 217,300 USD annually
