A Snapshot of Your DayWe are seeking a Power Systems Engineer in Houston, TX to design, implement, and commission integrated industrial power solutions across medium- and low-voltage systems. You will work on projects in Oil & Gas, power generation, marine, and industrial sectors, supporting solutions from proposal through commissioning while collaborating with global teams and customers.
How You'll Make an Impact - Execute power system solutions using Siemens technologies, including switchgear, drives, and automation systems, while supporting projects across the full lifecycle-from proposal and design through commissioning and service.
- Design and integrate MV/LV power distribution systems, including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and related equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Quality Assurance, to ensure project success.
- Interface with customers to resolve technical issues and present effective engineering solutions.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation, such as system descriptions, drawings, and test/commissioning procedures, while supporting field commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
- Contribute to the development and standardization of engineering solutions across the team.
What You Bring - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, along with 3+ years of relevant experience. Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level.
- Proficient in Medium and Low Voltage power systems, electrical power distribution, and switchgear, including MCCs, transformers, and protection systems.
- Experience in industrial power system design, implementation, and project execution from proposal through commissioning, including commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial power systems and the ability to thrive in customer-facing environments.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills, with proficiency in engineering and productivity software tools.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required (30%).
Preferred Experience - Knowledge of PLC/HMI, SCADA, or DCS systems, as well as variable frequency drives (VFDs), electric machines, and coordinated control systems.
- Familiarity with power system analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, and EasyPower.
- Knowledge of Siemens technologies, including S7 PLCs and SINAMICS drives.
- Industry experience in Oil & Gas, power generation, marine, EPC, or industrial automation.
- Hands-on field service or commissioning experience is highly valued.
