Role Overview:This role is for a Postgres Database Administrator with deep expertise in Postgres architecture and hands-on experience in database administration, including backup/restore, upgrades, replication, and performance troubleshooting. The position requires managing multi-terabyte databases in a mission-critical environment, with exposure to cloud deployments and containerization technologies. Candidates must have prior experience with Apple.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform day-to-day operations and troubleshoot performance issues such as load average, locks, blocking, and long-running SQLs.
Required Skills:- Strong knowledge of Postgres Architecture.
- Experience with different types of backup and restores in Postgres.
- Experience with database upgrade on minor and major versions.
- Hands-on experience on Database replication and point-in-time-recovery.
- Proficiency with commonly used PostgreSQL configuration parameters and common system tables usage.
- Exposure to PostgreSQL maintenance tasks.
- Exposure to PostgreSQL deployments in cloud environments like AWS (RDS or EC2) or GCP.
- Experience with high-availability solutions such as Repmgr, pgpool, or EFM.
- Exceptional experience administering multi-terabyte databases.
- Background in building large database infrastructure supporting a high volume of transactions in a mission-critical environment.
- Hands-on experience on Kubernetes or any containerization technologies.
Qualifications:- 6-8 years of experience required.
- Must have ex-Apple experience.
- Aptitude to independently learn new technologies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical teams.
