Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Department of Psychiatry announces three (3) open postdoctoral fellowship positions on our newly funded NIAAA Institutional Research Training T32 program, Training in Research on Alcohol use and its Consequences and Etiology (TRACE). The goal of this program is to provide a rigorous, mentored research experience coupled with advanced methodological training that equips postdoctoral trainees to become leaders in alcohol research. By integrating biological, psychosocial, and environmental perspectives, trainees gain the skills needed to address alcohol-related challenges across the lifespan. The program is structured to provide each postdoctoral fellow with two years of training.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Design, organize, and execute research studies that further the aims of mentor's program of research.
- Communicate, through generation of manuscripts and scientific journal articles and through conference presentations, the results of research studies.
- Contribute to sponsored project funding applications, including assisting with project ideas, study design, and scientific writing for necessary application documents.
- Participate in communicating research findings to community members, including such that it can influence public policy and practice.
- Provide research guidance and mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Ph.D. in psychology, public health, clinical research, or a related field, with expertise relevant to alcohol and/or substance use studies.
- Candidates in ABD (all but degree) status will also be considered.
- Leadership and scholarship experience on research projects.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong scientific communication skills, to both expert and lay audiences, in writing and verbally.
Preferred QualificationsEquipment UtilizedPhysical Demands and Work Environment - Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert up to 25 pounds.
