Full Job Description
Overview

A Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position is immediately available in the Zhuang lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Aging is the greatest risk factor for cancer, yet the molecular mechanisms by which aging dictates tumor initiation, progression, and therapeutic response remain poorly understood. Our laboratory studies how aging reshapes the cell of origin and its surrounding microenvironment to regulate cancer development and treatment response. By integrating aging, stem cell, and cancer biology, we seek to uncover fundamental principles that can be translated into new strategies for precision oncology. The laboratory places a high emphasis of novel discoveries and academic development.

Responsibilities

For this position, the applicant will utilize murine and human genetics, pre-clinical models of lung cancer, 3D organoid/tumor sphere culture, spatial and single-cell transcriptomics, functional genomics and various cellular and molecular assays to understand how the aging alters lung regeneration and tumorigenesis.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • We are looking for exceptional candidates with a recent PhD and/or MD, a record of productive research, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong background in mouse genetics, cancer/aging/stem cell biology, lung regeneration/pulmonary biology, cancer immunology, and/or computational biology are highly desirable.

To apply, please submit a CV and a cover letter describing how your background and interests align with our research.
