JOB DESCRIPTION

Post Acute Administrator – Extended Care Unit 

Position Summary

Manages the daily operations of the assigned department or function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. Lead and direct the overall operations of the Extended Care Unit with 24/7 accountability in accordance with customer needs, government regulations and company policies, with focus on maintaining excellent quality of care for the residents while achieving the facility’s business objectives.

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of three (3) years related experience and one (1) to two (2) years management/supervisory experience. Previous Nursing home administrator experience preferred as well as SNF administrator license. 

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred 

Required Skills

  • Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
  • Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
  • Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
  • Assesses the quality of patient care delivered and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments. May provide patient care when necessary.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Coordination:

  • Maintains effective coordination of ongoing or specific activities to accomplish work activities and program goals.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with others (e.g. residents, visitors, employees, maintenance personnel, vendors) to coordinate interrelated activities effectively.
  • Maintains efficient operations by maki9ng timely requests to others and responding quickly to requests.
  • Keep others informed of progress on work activities to ensure efficient coordination of activities.

Program coordination:

  • Develops and implements programs.
  • Develops, administers and coordinates policies and procedures related to program.
  • Monitors changes in area of expertise, professional standards, industry and federal and state regulates; incorporates changes to program.
  • Develops and maintains a good rapport with all constituents.
  • Composes correspondence and coordinates publicity to promote program.
  • Performs administrative functions such as completing the necessary forms, developing budget, writing proposals.
  • Evaluates success of program and reports to CEO, Board, etc. as appropriate.

Marketing:

  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy for the facility that reflects service opportunities, competition, potential market area changes, and which maximizes census, payor mix and ancillary revenues.
  • Lead and monitor Stakeholders to play an active role in carrying out the marketing plan
