The Fisher Phillips Portland, Oregon office is seeking an experienced wage and hour litigator with five or more years of experience to join our team. Our Portland attorneys defend employers in complex wage and hour class and collective actions and other employment-related litigation in state and federal courts throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience litigating claims under Oregon wage and hour laws enforced by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI), as well as claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Candidates should have demonstrated experience managing matters from inception through resolution and be comfortable developing litigation strategy in complex wage and hour disputes.
Experience and QualificationsCandidates should have significant experience with:
- Drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, and other substantive briefing
- Managing written discovery and complex discovery issues
- Taking and defending depositions
- Preparing for and arguing key motions, including class certification and decertification motions
- Developing strategy in wage and hour class and collective actions
- Analyzing wage and hour issues, including exemption classifications, regular rate and overtime calculations, meal and rest period practices, payroll and wage statement issues, and final pay claims
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong academic credentials, exceptional analytical and writing skills, sound judgment and attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Requirements - Five or more years of relevant litigation experience
- Admission to the Oregon State Bar
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school
