As a Policy Analyst, GS-0301-13, your typical work assignments may include the following:
- Conducts analyses of various source materials including historical reports, responses to questionnaires, open-source material, classified reporting, laws, policies, or agreements to develop reports and policies.
- Develops recommendations to achieve compliance with regulations and policies or advancing strategic policy objectives.
- Actively participates in and leads working groups or meetings to improve coordination and support development of policies and programs to advance strategic objectives.
- Maintains strong lines of communication with Department Components and Interagency partners to ensure that international affairs engagement aligns with DHS priorities and U.S. foreign policy.

QualificationsSpecialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal Government (can be obtained in the public or private sector) conducting ALL of the following:
(1) Analyzing complex and specialized information, including legal and technical information, and apply it to programs and policies. (2) Effectively utilizing project management techniques to independently and simultaneously manage multiple projects and develop policies with minimal direction. (3) Using program management techniques to develop and implement organizational procedures and frameworks to successfully coordinate policy and strategy across a wide range of stakeholders. (4) Leading development of policies and making recommendations to top managers including through high quality written materials. (NOTE: Your resume must show where, when and how you performed these duties.)
NOTE: Substitution of education for experience is not applicable for GS-13.All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
