Job Summary

The Plumbing Service Manager is a senior operational leader responsible for building, launching, and scaling a commercial plumbing service division within an established mechanical service organization. This role combines hands-on technical expertise, people leadership, operational discipline, and business development acumen. The Manager will establish processes, recruit and lead technicians, ensure safety and quality, and drive profitable growth through service, repair, and maintenance work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide overall leadership and direction for all plumbing service activities, including service calls, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
• Oversee dispatching and scheduling of technicians (performed by Service Coordinator/Dispatcher) to ensure efficiency and labor optimization.
• Ensure monthly and contractual PM inspections are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field technicians.
• Perform site surveys for existing and prospective customers and define scope of work.
• Estimate, price, and prepare plumbing repair and small-project proposals for existing customers.
• Review job costing, labor utilization, material usage, and margins.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain plumbing technicians as the division grows.
• Conduct performance evaluations, ride-a-longs, and skills assessments.
• Champion a safety-first culture and ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and field audits.
• Oversee inventory control for warehouse stock, service vehicles, and job sites.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships to control cost and quality.
• Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and readiness of service vehicles and tools.
• Serve as a key point of contact for plumbing service customers.
• Conduct customer visits, service reviews, and performance check-ins.
• Support new account development and cross-selling with mechanical service offerings.
• Assist in developing and executing the Plumbing Service Business Plan.
• Track and report service metrics including backlog, response times, labor utilization, safety, and profitability.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED, associate degree or vocational/technical training in Plumbing Technology, Construction Management, Mechanical Systems, or a related trade discipline or similar experience.
• 10 + years of progressive experience in commercial plumbing service, including leadership roles.
• 15+ years of hands-on technical plumbing experience in commercial or industrial environments.
• Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems including pumps, drains, underground piping, and domestic water.
• Demonstrated experience estimating and managing repair service work.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management software.
• OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training preferred.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
