Position Location: This role supports our Chantilly, VA location, which serves customers throughout the greater Northern Virgina area. This will position will specifically support a Data Center.
As a PLC Technician - Data Center Automation, you will participate in the installation, startup, commissioning, validation, and lifecycle transition of complex automation systems supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and mission-critical data center facilities throughout the United States.
You will serve as a technical resource during project execution, collaborating with engineering, project management, commissioning, service, subcontractor, and customer teams to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities As a PLC Technician, you will:
- Participate in startup, checkout, commissioning, validation, and customer acceptance activities for data center automation projects.
- Support installation verification, panel checkout, point-to-point testing, I/O validation, loop testing, and functional performance testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLC controllers, field devices, instrumentation, networking components, control panels, and integrated automation systems.
- Assist with startup and commissioning of facility automation systems associated with cooling, electrical distribution, backup power, environmental monitoring, and critical infrastructure systems.
- Review project drawings, specifications, network architectures, sequences of operation, control schematics, and commissioning documentation.
- Support integrated systems testing including FAT, SAT, functional testing, and customer witness activities.
- Perform system diagnostics and validate operation of PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, network communications, and automation interfaces.
- Coordinate technical activities with project teams, contractors, vendors, service personnel, and customer representatives.
- Document deficiencies, corrective actions, commissioning results, software backups, redlines, and turnover documentation.
- Support customer training and project closeout activities.
- Assist with service transition and lifecycle readiness activities to ensure successful long-term operation of installed systems.
- Serve as a technical resource supporting continuous improvement initiatives and best practices for data center automation delivery.
You will make an impact with these qualifications: Basic Qualifications - High School Diploma, GED, technical degree, military training, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience supporting commissioning, controls, automation, building automation, industrial controls, electrical systems, or mission-critical facility infrastructure.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and automation technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret: electrical schematics, control drawings, specifications, network architectures, and sequence of operations documentation
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, or validation of complex automation systems.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
- Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

The pay range for this position is $77,910 - $133,560 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
