Position Summary

The PLC Application Engineer designs, programs, tests, and commissions PLC applications for water/wastewater facilities and related infrastructure. The role collaborates with HMI, OT, and Field Services to deliver robust, maintainable control solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop PLC programs (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens) based on P&IDs, I/O lists, and control narratives.
  • Perform bench testing, simulation, and FAT; support SAT, startup, and operator training.
  • Integrate instrumentation and VFDs; implement alarming, interlocks, and failsafes; document as-builts.
  • Collaborate with HMI and OT teams on communications, security, and performance.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues during and after deployment.

Qualifications
  • 3-6 years of PLC programming/commissioning experience in utilities or industrial environments.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell and/or Siemens toolchains; understanding of networking and industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, DNP3).
  • Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and produce documentation.

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's in Electrical/Controls Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily office/remote environment with travel to facilities, project sites, and client/vendor meetings as needed.
