About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to help build and scale our foundational platforms. Your team will be responsible for building these systems from first principles-prototyping, productionizing solutions, and creating the rising tide that lifts all boats. This role will be based out of Toronto or Vancouver and embraces a hybrid working model that balances remote and onsite work (the specifics of which are at the discretion of NexHealth management). It is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about engineering fundamentals and operational excellence in a complex problem space. No prior experience in health tech is required.
What You'll Do- You'll be NexHealth's first engineer based in Canada - setting the technical and cultural tone for what will become a larger team as we expand our footprint north of the border
- Hire and develop world-class engineers to build a high-performing team
- Support engineers in their career growth through mentorship, feedback, and leadership development
- Ensure high technical standards through sound processes (e.g., architecture reviews, testing) and a strong engineering culture
- Partner with engineering and product leadership to define and execute long-term platform roadmaps
- Coordinate execution and collaborate across teams to deliver cross-cutting, high-impact initiatives
What You'll Bring- Proven track record (6+ years) leading high-performing engineering teams that thrive on innovation
- 8+ years of total industry experience in software engineering
- Exceptional people leadership skills with experience coaching engineers
- Deep experience delivering large-scale foundational infrastructure
- Strong judgment balancing engineering velocity with long-term technical quality
- Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across Product, Sales, and Customer Success
- Demonstrated ability to define and drive technical and organizational roadmaps
- A builder mindset with a history of scaling teams and systems in fast-paced environments
- Strong ownership and initiative in ambiguous, evolving contexts
- Bias for action and data-driven decision making
- First-principles thinking applied to both technical and organizational challenges
- Deep care for people development and team health

- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

CompensationActual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just the base salary component of NexHealth's total compensation package for employees. Other benefits may include stock options, an unlimited paid time off policy, and up to 100% coverage on medical, vision and dental insurance.
