Position SummaryThis position serves as a Survey and Plats Coordinator for the Southwest Region (SWR). This position assists the Regional Survey Coordinator in determining the acceptability of contracted survey data, provide quality verification of survey data collected by contractors providing survey data to the Department and may provide direction for the corrective actions that need to be taken by the appropriate parties. This position may also assist the Regional Survey Coordinator in coordinating the procurement of survey services for the Region.
This position assists the Regional Plat Coordinator in development and review of Transportation Project Plats (TPP) and legal descriptions including gathering and researching existing records to assure accuracy of final documents. This position will also review and suggest revision to right-of-way plats and legal descriptions submitted by consulting firms.
This position requires expertise in a number of technical software and hardware platforms., including the ability to correctly merge disparate automated databases and/or digital graphic files. It also requires a level of expertise and understanding in areas such as data collection methods, data standards, statistical analysis, error analysis, analytical computations, coordinate geometry coordination projections, and location control systems/policies.
Salary InformationThe senior level position is in schedule-range 14-14 with an
annual salary of $66,560- $76,960, with excellent benefits.
The advanced level position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an
annual salary of $85,280 - $97,760, with excellent benefits.
Plus $2,080 additional for holding a WI Professional Land Surveyor license. A $3,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have any prior permanent full-time state service in the last five years and agree to remain in the position for one year.
The $3,000 will be paid on the first paycheck. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job DetailsThis position requires the ability to travel away from the office for meetings, with occasional overnight trips.
This position requires fieldwork. This fieldwork can include working in all seasons, including adverse weather conditions and working in high volume traffic conditions, bending on a limited basis, and lifting approximately 70 lbs. and carrying this load approximately 50 feet over varying terrain.
QualificationsTo be eligible at the senior level, applicants must have education, training, and/or experience with all the following: - Mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry
- Principles and/or practices of land surveying
- Computer programs used to process survey data and/or Computer Aided Design and Drafting System (CADDS) applications (i.e. Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation)
In addition to above, to be eligible at the advanced level, applicants must: - Hold a current Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License.
