Job Summary

Coordinate the various functions and work activities of employees assigned to support the respective system. This role has authority to make changes in the system as required and manage the system end-to-end so as to ensure optimal overall safe, reliable performance.

Job Description

This posting represents multiple positions that offer a range of opportunities for advancement. The minimum qualifications outlined below apply to the Plant System Owner, with increased requirements for the Plant System Owner Sr and Plant System Owner Prin.

What you'll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and correct problems with assigned plant system.
  • Implement and assist with process improvement projects and/or related programs.
  • Coordinate activities of employees in maintenance, energy production, lab, coal handling, or outside contractors as required.
  • Consult with or actively seek advice from Region Plant Engineering.


What we're looking for:

Education requirements are listed below:

Engineering Bachelor's degree from ABET accredited school with equivalent experience; or other Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience; or Associate's degree with equivalent experience; or high school diploma or GED with equivalent experience. See below for experience requirement.

Work Experience requirement listed below:

With an ABET accredited Engineering Bachelor's degree, three (3) years of relevant plant experience; or with any other Bachelor's degree, five (5) years of relevant plant experience; or, with an Associate's degree, seven (7) years of relevant plant experience; or, with a high school diploma or GED, nine (9) years of relevant plant experience.

Other Must Haves:
  • Must have the ability to read and understand technical documentation. Must be able to write reports in a clear and concise manner. Must be able to communicate clearly to craft and management personnel. Must have organizational skills necessary to maintain files and documentation related to position.
  • Physical demand level is light.
  • The System Owner Prin is intended for engineering candidates or others as a developmental position for plant leadership roles. The highest level for all other candidates is Plant System Owner Sr (SG 7).


What you'll get:

Base salary starts at $74,551 - $93,188.50. In addition to a competitive compensation, AEP offers a unique comprehensive benefits package that aims to support and enhance the overall well-being of our employees.

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: L - Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 12 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5-6 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) When it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time, but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg c ontrols; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible
