Full Job Description
This position manages safe and effective plant operations to achieve on-time delivery of products according to customer quality specifications. The Plant Manager manages all aspects of the plant operations, including safety, equipment and facilities, maintenance, MRO, human resources management while maximizing equipment usage and increasing labor productivity.

  • Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure to accomplish business objectives
  • Works with Operations Manager and Human Resources to manage an effective staffing process
  • Adjusts hours of work, priorities and staff assignments to ensure efficient operations based on workload. Drive continuous growth of labor productivity
  • Utilizes performance management tools such as coaching and performance reviews to provide continuous feedback; identify development needs and objectively measure progress for all direct reports, recommending compensation changes as appropriate
  • Ensures performance management tools are fully implemented throughout the department
  • Observes and complies with all health, safety audits, meetings, training, and corrective actions
  • Manages the implementation of new employee orientation, certification and ongoing training programs designed to insure appropriate skill levels for all workers
  • Monitors work rules and ensure discipline is administered fairly and consistently
  • Tracks and analyzes equipment performance and downtime
  • Supports Sales' activities aimed at proactively marketing equipment capabilities
  • Identifies opportunities to improve equipment utilization through continuous improvement
  • Continuously improves plant operations in order to optimize material flow through the facility
  • Manages upkeep/repair of company property (i.e., equipment, machinery, buildings & grounds)
  • Manages the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles into all phases of production
  • Manages development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP) for all equipment and facility-related processes
  • Participates in capital expense justifications for new plant, property and equipment
  • Ensures plant operates in accordance within Federal, State and Local environmental regulations
  • Schedule process for orders according to strategies set by Management and with regards to
  • due dates.
  • Develops schedule of factory orders for assigned production areas within plant
  • Uses work center, machinery, buildings, & staff to increase productivity & customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates and supports of functional departments of the order fulfillment process.
  • Adjusts work hours, priorities and staff assignments to ensure efficient operations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering processes, inventory management practices and customer service standards
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices, ISO and/ or QS 9000 quality management systems
  • Ability to read and comprehend customer blueprints
  • Ability to achieve business results with appropriate focus on earnings, customers and teams
  • Skilled at written and verbal communication with a wide range of constituencies
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff and exhibit sound performance management skills
  • Associate's Degree or 3+ yeas of related experience
  • Setting: Warehouse and Office
  • Travel Time: 5%
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Combination of warehouse and office environments; sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time and occasional bending and reaching required, safety hazards present, refer ergonomic assessment for specific requirements, if applicable.
