Plant Manager

Position Purpose and Objectives

The Plant Manager of Thomson-Gordon Group, reporting to the C.O.O., is responsible for the day-to-day execution of Thordon Bearing Production and the facility. In this role, the Plant Manager will also be responsible for leading and driving results and improvements in Manufacturing Products and Processes, including the safe, efficient, and capable operation of Production. In this role, you will bring Leadership with a focus on improving our ability to deliver quality products on time to our customers. In addition, drive continued improvement to execute manufacturing operations goals while adhering to company values and our dedication to safety.

Key responsibilities include driving improvement to meet our corporate strategic plan, including growth strategies, as they relate to manufacturing operations. You will demonstrate strong leadership to continuously develop people so they can, in turn, support the ever-changing/growing requirements of our manufacturing operations.

The Plant Manager will have direct responsibility for developing the strategy, plan, and timeline for key initiatives defined by the C.O.O. annually.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive the execution of corporate safety programs across the employees and the facility. This includes corporate safety initiatives to ensure operations are well managed from a safety perspective
  • Ensure manufacturing operations are fully capable of producing the quality products we sell
  • Drive Quality Improvements and Reduction in Measurable Waste
  • Develop and execute Key Initiatives in Operations annually
  • Support growth plans as they apply to manufacturing
  • Invest in formal training, mentoring, and coaching for Manufacturing Operations staff, and provide input to performance evaluations
  • Foster teamwork and transparency within the manufacturing group and all other areas of the business. Support other areas of the business proactively, establishing a culture of one team, one company
  • Annually, working with the C.O.O. and the Manufacturing team, develop an operating budget for all manufacturing operations. This could include operating expenses and CAPEX schedule
  • Lead and, where appropriate, redefine our Workflow Process Improvement. Drive Lean Manufacturing Principles and culture across Operations
  • Support the C.O.O. to ensure that facilities comply with all local legislative regulations. This includes environmental, municipal, and federal legislation as it applies to manufacturing operations and facilities
  • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place for all manufacturing operations. Ensure that those policies and procedures are followed through effective management processes
  • Undertake other tasks as assigned by the C.O.O.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Superior motivational skills and the ability to train and drive CI methods and initiatives into managers and subordinate personnel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A Team Player, with the ability to coach and mentor managerial personnel and instill cultural values in all Plant personnel
  • Experience and/or formal training in manufacturing management

Supervisory Responsibility

Direct responsibility for Production Supervision and the employees within Thordon Production, Thorflex, Thorplas Manufacturing, as well as Facility Operations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. Some travel to Europe and possibly other locations will be required.

Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to the conditions of a manufacturing environment most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.

10 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting with a minimum of 10 years of management experience.

Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and principles is a must.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this position is $110 000 - $150 000+ plus a comprehensive benefits package. The base salary offered will be fair, competitive, and based on skills, experience, and qualifications
