Position SummaryThe Plant Manager provides overall site leadership for Powertec's custom and highly engineered electric motor business, with accountability for safety, quality, delivery, cost, people leadership, and long-term operational performance. This role is responsible for aligning production, engineering, and supply chain activities to ensure on-time delivery, operational efficiency, and drive a strong continuous improvement culture. The Plant Manager sets direction, removes barriers, develops leadership capability, drives strategic improvement initiatives, and ensures the organization has the talent, capacity, systems, and operating discipline needed to achieve sustainable results.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Provide overall leadership for plant operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, productivity, and people objectives are clearly defined, measured, and achieved.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Production Supervisor to strengthen frontline leadership capability, accountability, problem-solving discipline, and execution of daily production priorities.
- Set plant-level operating priorities, performance expectations, and escalation processes to ensure the Production Supervisor and support functions can execute effectively.
- Own plant performance results and lead corrective action when operational, financial, customer, safety, or quality objectives are not being met.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, and business leadership to align resources, resolve systemic barriers, and support customer requirements.
- Champion disciplined use of the HBD Business System, Lean principles, visual management, and structured problem-solving at the plant leadership level.
- Develop and execute operational improvement plans that strengthen capacity, reduce waste, improve flow, support profitable growth, and deliver year-over-year performance improvement.
- Lead workforce planning, organizational capability development, succession planning, and performance management for the plant leadership structure.
- Evaluate capacity, staffing, equipment, space, and capital investment needs and provide clear business justification for operational investments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety expectations, quality systems, employment practices, and business conduct standards across the plant.
Experience and Education- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field required.
- 5 years + experience in industrial manufacturing.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering.
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written) for varying levels of leadership.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and outside of the box thinking.
- Active listener with demonstrated ability to motivate, organize, plan and make decisions.
- Proven track record of leading cross functional teams.
- Demonstrated leadership and results using a Lean/Kaizen/Continuous Improvement approach.
- Ability to identify strategic opportunities and develop, implement and sustain changes to deliver year-over-year improvements to safety, quality, delivery and cost.
