Your role
• Manages all personnel and operations to insure the manufacturing of products meeting customer expectations within the company standards of budget, policies, procedures, quality, safety and sanitation.
• Reviews and approves the implementation of manufacturing and organizational plans, then reviews performance against operating plans and standards. Communicates to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans.
• Assures that duties, responsibilities, authority and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
• Develops specific short-term and long-term objectives, plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates in each area of operation. Issues specific objectives to subordinates and reviews performance.
• Assures uniform and consistent adherence to federal, state and local regulatory agencies such as, but not limited to, USDA, EPA, DNR, OSHA, DOL, etc.
• Assures consistent and complete implementation of all company policies, procedures, work rules and safety requirements. Is involved in creation and revision of IDF procedures and work rules as necessary.
• Keeps employees informed as to company/department plans and progress. Maintains appropriate communications within area of responsibility.
• Selects and maintains qualified personnel in all positions reporting directly and recommends compensation for them. Identifies training needs, initiates development of subordinates, and recommends effective personnel action. Implements staffing requirements to maintain production schedules.
• Reviews and approves cost control reports, cost estimates, and manpower and facilities requirements forecasts. Reviews and approves or revises budget proposals received from direct reports.
• Directs the overall safety process of the plant facility and assures that company safety standards are achieved.
• Develops and implements processes and methods to improve productivity.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
• Directs Production superintendent to establish appropriate work schedules in relation to sales, procurement and production demand.
• Directs Project Team to assure that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.
• Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, equipment and manpower to eliminate wasteful practices. Is responsible for all plant assets.
• Develops and presents to the Vice President of Operations any Engineering matters requiring a decision that are outside the scope of the Plant Manager.
• Assumes other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
• Monitoring food safety, regulatory compliance, and legality to meet the requirements of the BRC global standard for food safety.
• All other duties as assigned.
About you
• Has a minimum of 10-15 years of successful experience in planning, organizing, developing and controlling all aspects of a manufacturing/processing operation.
• Bachelor's Degree in an accredited 4-year college or university
• Strategic thinker - in both short and long-term planning.
• Previous budgeting and P&L responsibility
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodology (Lean/TPM)
