Job Description:

The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all operational activities within a Greif Tube & Core manufacturing facility, including Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Production Planning, Quality, and Environmental Health & Safety. This role provides overall leadership for plant performance, operational execution, employee engagement, safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Our Tube & Core operations play a critical role in supporting a wide range of industries through high-quality paper packaging products manufactured using recycled materials and circular economy principles. The Plant Manager will help drive this mission by building a strong safety culture, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring reliable, efficient manufacturing operations in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations for the Tube & Core facility, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives are achieved.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing, operational excellence, and process optimization methodologies.
  • Implement and monitor production plans, performance management systems, and plant KPIs; identify operational gaps and drive corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and execute operational improvement plans focused on efficiency, waste reduction, equipment reliability, and overall plant performance.
  • Foster a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements while promoting proactive daily safety practices.
  • Lead, coach, and develop plant leadership and operational teams, ensuring accountability, engagement, and succession planning across the facility.
  • Communicate plant goals, expectations, and company policies while maintaining positive employee and labor relations in accordance with union agreements where applicable.
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Customer Service, HR, and Commercial teams to support customer needs and operational priorities.
  • Forecast production capacity, staffing, equipment, and facility requirements while supporting long-term operational and strategic planning.
  • Prepare and manage annual operating budgets, monitor expenditures, and drive cost control initiatives to achieve financial targets.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, operational discipline, and continuous improvement throughout the site.
  • Support Greif's sustainability and circular economy initiatives by driving operational practices aligned with recycling, waste reduction, and responsible manufacturing principles.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including direct leadership of plant or operations teams within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within paper, packaging, tube & core, converting, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred (Black Belt a plus).
  • Experience working within unionized manufacturing environments preferred.


Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, plant management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with experience building and leading high-performing operational teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and multitasking abilities in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, environmental compliance, labor relations, and manufacturing safety standards.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and KPI management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization, including union representatives.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and operational demands.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, production reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, employee engagement, customer service, and sustainability.

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is $108,400.00 - $184,600.00. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $115,000.00 to $135,000.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
