Position Summary:Oversees and coordinates all major repairs and/or changes to the facility and/or equipment, including installation, repair and maintaining facility and equipment. Assists in implementation of all capital projects and works with plant engineer as needed. Manages the preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure maximum equipment efficiency.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:- Manage daily activities of the maintenance employees, provides development support and training as needed. Develop and implement plans/programs to improve knowledge and training of all maintenance personnel. Maintains rigourous standards for each position in the maintenance function and holds staff responsible for achieving & maintaining those standards including safety.
- Recieves, reviews, and analyzes the monthly PM, CM, and EM activities against downtime report to determine how to improve equipment uptime and efficiencies.
- Prepares annual Maintenance Budget using analysis reports from EAM system, capital project plans and input from Plant Engineer and Operations Manager with regards to future projects and growth.
- Effectively uses all existing maintenance systems, JD Edwards - EAM computer software to manage core maintenance transactions. Works to keep system documentation current and recoomends any value added changes as needed.
- Maintains an effective maintenance library of SOP's, vendor manuals, process flows, and other documentation required for key maintenance activities and equipment. These documents are edited annually.
- Works with Plant Engineer, Operations Manager, and headquarters' Engineering staff as needed for successful implentation of capital projects.
- Manage department overtime and other costs to budget.
- Responsible for Food Safety, by following & assuring compliance and implementation of all company policies including Safety & HR policies, procedures, all applicable food regulations, including all current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Education and Experience:- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with increasing levels of supervisory responsibility with demonstrated CMMS experience is required.
- Familiarity with ammonia/PSM, waste water and generator/boiler experience is required.
- Assist and manage all capital projects: develop project, write project justification, control finances and installation of projects including operation is required.
- Ability to work efficiently cross-functionally is required.
- Ability to travel 10%.
- The use and welding of all alloys, including all non-ferrous metals -tig- arc-mig, power transmission, Hyd., pneumatics, HVAC, electrical systems-main power-controls-electrical / mechanical, PLC, VFD, all fields of electrical is highly preferred.
- High speed food and beverage manufacturing experience strongly desired.
Knowledge and Skills:- Research and development of new equipments and products.
- Depth of knowledge in: Boilers, pumps, fillers, cappers, sealers, printers, with a wide range of wrapping / packaging equip. experience, swept surface heat exchangers, blenders, and all phases of food processing equip.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to resolve problems.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and an ability to learn other computer-based tools such as CMMS systems.
Physical Demands:All jobs require sufficient physical strength and dexterity to perform the required task(s) and typically also require at a minimum: intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day. Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required. Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements. In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:
- Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
- Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
- Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
