Summary:
The Plant Services Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the plant's critical utility and infrastructure systems. This position provides leadership and technical oversight for industrial refrigeration, boiler systems, wastewater treatment, facility utilities, and plant engineering activities.
The Plant Services Supervisor works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety/EHS, and Operations leadership to ensure plant services support uninterrupted manufacturing operations while meeting all applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements.
This role requires a strong combination of technical knowledge, leadership capability, troubleshooting skills, regulatory awareness, and continuous improvement mindset.
This position reports to the V.P of Operations.

Key responsibilities/Essential functions: Refrigeration Systems - Provide operational and maintenance oversight of industrial refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
- Ensure refrigeration systems are operated safely, efficiently, and within established operating parameters.
- Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions for refrigeration system issues.
- Maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs for refrigeration equipment.
- Monitor system performance, energy consumption, and reliability.
- Ensure required inspections, documentation, and regulatory requirements are completed.
- Partner with Maintenance and EHS to manage refrigeration-related safety risks and emergency response requirements
- Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, IIAR standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), incident investigations, and emergency response planning.
- Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, training, and accountability.
Boiler and Steam Systems - Oversee the safe and reliable operation of boilers, steam systems, condensate systems, and related equipment.
- Ensure boiler maintenance, inspections, testing, and water treatment activities are completed as required.
- Monitor boiler performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate troubleshooting and repairs involving boiler and steam systems.
- Maintain required operating records and documentation.
Wastewater Treatment - Provide leadership and oversight of the plant wastewater treatment operation.
- Ensure wastewater systems are operated in compliance with applicable environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor treatment system performance, flows, chemical usage, sampling, and process conditions.
- Ensure required testing, reporting, inspections, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Troubleshoot wastewater treatment issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Work closely with EHS and regulatory personnel regarding wastewater compliance and environmental requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve treatment efficiency, reliability, and operating cost.
Engineering & Plant Infrastructure - Provide engineering support for plant utilities, infrastructure, and equipment modifications.
- Assist with the development, planning, and execution of projects related to plant services and utilities.
- Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements to reliability, efficiency, capacity, and safety.
- Support equipment specifications, contractor coordination, project execution, and commissioning.
- Participate in equipment and process improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise during troubleshooting of complex utility and infrastructure problems.
- Assist with development and maintenance of utility system , documentation, specifications, and operating procedures.
Leadership & Maintenance - Lead, coach, and develop Plant Services employees and contractors.
- Establish clear expectations for safety, performance, accountability, and teamwork.
- Coordinate daily work activities and prioritize work based on plant operational needs.
- Partner with Maintenance leadership to ensure preventive and corrective maintenance activities are properly planned and executed.
- Promote a proactive approach to equipment reliability and defect elimination.
- Ensure work is completed using appropriate safety procedures, permits, lockout/tagout, and other applicable requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure contractors comply with company safety and operating standards.
Reliability & Continuous Improvement - Develop and monitor key performance indicators for plant services.
- Analyze equipment failures, downtime, utility consumption, and operating trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Identify opportunities to reduce energy, water, chemical, and utility costs.
- Support reliability-centered maintenance and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies.
- Promote the use of data and operating trends to make informed maintenance and engineering decisions.
Safety & Compliance - Maintain a strong safety culture within all Plant Services activities.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain required operating permits, inspections, certifications, records, and documentation.
- Participate in safety audits, regulatory inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action activities.
- Ensure employees are properly trained and qualified to operate applicable equipment and systems.
- Immediately address unsafe conditions and operational concerns.
Knowledge, Experience & Education - Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, mechanical/electrical systems, or a related technical field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial utilities, maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is required
- Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following:
- Industrial refrigeration

- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, P&IDs, drawings, and specifications.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, environmental, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience in beverage, food, dairy, or other regulated manufacturing environments strongly preferred.

Physical & Work Environment - Ability to work in a manufacturing/processing environment with exposure to noise, temperature variations, chemicals, machinery, and industrial equipment.
