Full Job Description
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking a Plant Engineer to support its hydrogen production facilities in the Louisiana East Gulf Mid-River Area. This role provides engineering support across multiple facilities, with regional responsibilities spanning from Convent, LA, to Luling, LA. The Air Products Mid-River Region operates four large SMR units, one hydrogen off-gas unit, and a satellite facility. These plants utilize steam methane reforming, cryogenic processing, and PSA/TSA purification technologies to produce hydrogen for refinery and petrochemical customers, as well as customers connected to the Gulf Coast Hydrogen Pipeline System. The Plant Engineer supports Mid-River Site Supervisors and the Area Manager by improving the safety, reliability, efficiency, and productivity of regional hydrogen production facilities. This role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Project Teams, and Business stakeholders, combining field and office-based work, including data analysis, systems integration, engineering standards review, and hands-on support for rotating equipment, process units, and control systems. Qualifications: 3 B.S Degree in Engineering 3 Seasoned leadership and experience in engineering-based roles, with a strong preference for individuals who desire to progress into operations leadership roles. 3 A proven track record of driving continuous improvement through analytical reviews of complex systems. 3 Knowledge of RCA and FMEA, with previous use of these methodologies, is a plus. 3 Strong plant operating experience in similar plants or operations of similar complexity. 3 A track record of success in safety, environmental performance, quality, and employee engagement. 3 A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building, and diversity. 3 Strong communication and organizational skills. 3 A self-starter with proven leadership abilities.
