Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for division financial statements, monthly close processes, technical accounting, and development of a strong internal control environment for the division. This role oversees all accounting activities of the division including inventory and cost accounting, supports division operations with timely and insightful analysis, and supports corporate team for SEC financial statement disclosures.

The Plant Controller serves as a key liaison with Corporate FP&A, Treasury, Tax and Accounting teams, provides operational and accounting support, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Partner with plant operations to provide relevant analytical support, bringing a financial perspective for evaluating operational performance.
  • Assess existing processes to identify efficiencies, potential integration opportunities, controls, and documentation.
  • Lead technical accounting matters for the specialty materials division.
  • Support SOX leader in developing a strong internal control environment for the division.
  • Manage product costing in SAP and ongoing analysis of product costs.
  • Function as financial liaison to corporate office (Richmond, Virginia), including Controller, Treasury, Tax and Financial Planning and Analysis personnel.
  • Serve as the Controlling leader for special projects at the division such as system transitions or upgrades.
  • Manage and develop accounting staff.
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • 7–10+ years of experience

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • CPA preferred
    • Experience with SAP
    • Manufacturing or cost accounting experience
