Full Job Description
We have an excellent opportunity for a Piping Design Supervisor with proven experience in leading teams of piping/mechanical designers during all phases of multiple projects, which involve the development of plant layouts and designing process pressure piping systems for industrial facilities. Must be able to produce optimum plant designs and develop area layouts and piping designs from conceptual studies through detailed engineering and the issuing of piping isometrics and arrangement drawings.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes various 2D and 3D CAD software platforms, including 3D laser scans, to prepare plant layout and design drawings utilizing standard industry practices and practical design knowledge
  • Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures
  • Directly supervises and provides guidance / assistance to project piping designers
  • Interfaces with project team, client personnel and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design
  • Effectively conducts coordination meetings
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills
  • Prepares piping estimates and schedules and determine man-hour/ manpower requirements for proposals and projects
  • Motivates piping designers to obtain maximum productivity
  • Maintains a cooperative, efficient, and positive working environment
  • Provides direction to and guidance on 2D and 3D CAD design in various platforms (CADWorx, AutoCAD, BricsCAD, MicroStation)
  • Achieves layout requirements and develop alternate design layouts of systems as required, add value engineering
  • Reviews and comments on supplier data (vendor prints), as required
  • Performs checking of all piping deliverables as appropriate to the discipline to ensure they clearly depict the design
  • Reviews constructability, operability, and safety in design
  • Checks compliance with industry standards as well as corporate piping design guides, standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Assists in the overall development/training of lower-level designers

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education preferred
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in piping design with 5 years of direct design supervision experience in the following fields: refining, fertilizer, pharmaceutical and chemical industries
  • Proficient in CADWorx (minimum of equipment, piping, isometric manager and drawing manager)
  • Proficient in MicroStation, AutoCAD and/or BricsCAD
  • Proficient with technical software applications, including MS Office and Google Workspace
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team and support individual strengths and professional development
  • Ability to learn new software
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to conduce field walk downs and site investigations
  • Material handling design experience a plus
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship

Additional Information:

This position is based in Tampa, Florida. While the company offers a hybrid work schedule, the role also requires the individual to be onsite in the office.
