Job Description

Primary purpose:

The primary responsibility of this individual will be to provide engineering support for the Company's pipeline initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as a project engineer for various projects. The individual will provide engineering recommendations for the transportation, and storage of gas, crude, NGL and CO2. The individual must possess the ability to associate and communicate with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Serve as project engineer on a variety of decarbonization projects, supporting all phases of development and design
  • Research engineering firms, manufacturers, and suppliers to better understand their capabilities and technologies.
  • Gather and consolidate data from engineering firms, manufacturers, and suppliers associated with the production, transportation, and storage of clean energy products. Present the data and make recommendations to key stakeholders in Engineering, Commercial, and Operations.
  • Provide technical expertise in the pipeline transportation of crude, natural gas and NGL's CO2, and other related products.
  • Provide technical expertise in evaluation of compression and pump equipment needed for moving decarbonization related products.
  • Provide technical expertise in the evaluation of materials (pipe, valves, compressors, pumps, instruments, gaskets, etc) in crude, natural gas, NGL's and CO2 service.
  • Assist in development of work scope and execution of FEED studies. Provide recommendations based on outcome of FEED studies.
  • Effectively prioritize workload between multiple projects.
  • Plan, schedule, manage, and report on projects with various deadlines.
  • Assist with the development of project scope documents, schedules, costs estimate, and budget forecasts as assigned.
  • Provide onsite support as needed during facility commissioning and startup.
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of Job Safety Analyses.
  • Provide sustaining engineering and operations support for installed facilities. Troubleshoot issues and identify/implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Write effectively and understand verbal and written communications.
  • Promote the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high-level of performance.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:
  • A minimum of 5 yrs of service as an engineer with experience natural gas, crude oil, and/or CO2 transmission.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to take on additional tasks and shift priorities on short notice.

Working Conditions:
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Essentially indoors but must be able to work outdoors in project & maintenance activities.
  • Travel from 20-50% of time to field sites and offices with occasional overnight stays.
  • May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • None.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Specific knowledge related to the mechanical design of crude oil pump and gas compression equipment including electric motor drives, reciprocating engines, gas turbines, reciprocating compressors, and centrifugal pumps/compressors
  • Experience and knowledge with pump and compressor station design
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Specific knowledge and application experience as a project manager in a commercial environment
  • Knowledge and/or application experience with industry standards (DOT 49 CFR192/195, API, ASME, ANSI, NACE, NEC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industry's regulatory compliance issues and standards.
