Position Title:

Recovery Engineer - Pine Chemicals

Pay Rate:

PL9

$69,500 - $92,600

PL may vary depending on experience (PL9, PL12, PL13, PL15)

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Job You Will Perform:

The Pine Chemicals Recovery Engineer is responsible for all aspects of process improvement for black liquor soap, tall oil, and turpentine recovery and production. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Championing, and executing the identification, evaluation and process improvement of all mill operations that impact Turpentine collection, BLS Recovery and CTO conversion.
  • Providing expert technical advice on the operation of equipment including: condensers, decanters, skimmers, pumps, mixers, reactors, separators, instruments and control logic.
  • Ensuring data driven Manufacturing Excellence principles are fully utilized in the identification of realizable gaps and development of plans to achieve targeted improvement and results.
  • Educate and reinforce work practices for pine chemicals with operating staff, maintenance staff, and senior leaders, both on the job or in a classroom situation.
  • Prioritizing your services to multiple mills based on your in depth understanding and tracking of energy, chemicals, raw materials, reliability, productivity, and quality.
  • Demonstration of leadership in the area of safety and support broad based participation in the mill's safety process.

The Skills You Will Bring:
  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or Paper Science preferred. B.S. degree in another engineering discipline accepted.
  • 1 - 2 years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must have strong written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be action oriented and demonstrate a drive for results.
  • Must demonstrate good time management skills.
  • Must be capable of supporting schedule driven travel for direct on-site support of multiple mills.
