Job Summary:
The Radiation Oncologist will be responsible for diagnosing and developing personalized treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with a team of medical professionals, including medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and oncology nurses, to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluate patients with cancer and formulate treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Administer and oversee radiation therapy treatments.
• Collaborate with other oncology specialists and multidisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care plans.
• Participate in tumor boards and case discussions.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality assurance standards in radiation treatment.
• Educate patients and their families on treatment processes and expected outcomes.
• Engage in clinical research or continuous improvement projects, as applicable.
Qualifications:
• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in Radiation Oncology.
• Valid medical license to practice in Louisiana
• Strong clinical expertise in radiation therapy planning and delivery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dedication to patient-centered care and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Experience:
• Proficiency with advanced radiation therapy techniques (e.g., IMRT, SBRT, SRS, IGRT).
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Participation in research, publications, or teaching activities.
