The Physician Practice Controller is a role that assists the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in safeguarding physician practice assets and ensuring the validity and timeliness of the physician practice financial reporting. This includes ensuring the financial validity of the books and records, and that financial information is prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP. Like the CFO, the Controller is responsible for ensuring compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures and also ensuring internal controls are effective in both design and operation, including the routine monitoring of controls. The Physician Practice Controller is to ensure the monthly close deadlines are met, account reconciliation and supporting documentation is maintained for all activities, account analysis is performed. They oversee the preparation of various packages as requested (e.g., statistical summaries, RVU's, physician incentives, budgets, etc.), and to assist in various projects as requested. The Physician Practice Controller is to assist the CFO who is responsible for the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment and monitoring of mitigation plans, and for the communication of financial risk and opportunities. The Physician Practice Controller is to assist the CFO in the monitoring of the financial performance of service lines, sites of service, business plans, and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts. This position works closely with the Hospital Controller and the Administrative leaders of the Physician Practice.
