Opportunity Information

Sutter West Bay Medical Group is seeking a Physician Informaticist to provide physician leadership and clinical expertise in support of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR). This role partners closely with physician leadership, operational teams, and IT to drive optimization, adoption, and governance of Epic across the medical group.

The Physician Informaticist serves as a key physician leader and change agent, ensuring the EHR supports high-quality care, efficient workflows, and an optimal physician experience.

Key Responsibilities

Physician Leadership & Governance
• Serve as a physician leader and advocate for EHR strategy, adoption, and optimization
• Partner with medical group leadership to develop and implement EHR priorities and recommendations
• Facilitate physician engagement and represent physician perspectives in governance and decision-making forums
• Act as liaison between physicians, operations, and IT to ensure alignment across stakeholders
• Communicate EHR vision, updates, and initiatives to physician leadership and end users

Epic Optimization & Implementation
• Represent physician workflows during Epic build, validation, testing, training, and go-live activities
• Collaborate with analysts, informatics teams, and physician SMEs to define and refine clinical workflows
• Participate in usability testing, workflow design sessions, and optimization initiatives
• Support ongoing evaluation and improvement of Epic functionality to enhance clinical efficiency and usability

Physician Engagement & Change Management
• Serve as a key driver of physician engagement and adoption of the EHR
• Conduct regular outreach, communication, and rounding with physician users and leadership
• Support affiliate and specialty-level physician engagement efforts, including power user groups
• Champion organizational change management initiatives related to Epic

Training, Education & Support
• Support end-user training strategy and go-live readiness activities
• Serve as a mentor and resource for physicians and clinical users
• Help identify and develop physician super users and local EHR champions
• Promote continuous improvement in EHR proficiency and clinical usability

Communication & Patient Safety
• Communicate system upgrades, enhancements, and optimization efforts across the medical group
• Escalate and communicate patient safety concerns related to EHR workflows in coordination with system teams
• Support dissemination of safety-related updates and best practices to physician users
• Ensure timely communication between system leadership and local physician groups
