Job Description

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a full-time, board-eligible or board-certified adult psychiatrist to join the inpatient behavioral health team at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois.

This position offers the opportunity to practice within a growing, physician-led behavioral health service supported by the resources of a nationally recognized health system. The ideal candidate values high-quality acute psychiatric care, interdisciplinary collaboration, a predictable daytime schedule, and the opportunity to help shape clinical quality and program development.

Position Highlights
  • Full-time, employed adult inpatient psychiatry position
  • Primary clinical assignment to the adult inpatient psychiatric service
  • Monday-Friday daytime schedule
  • Equitably shared weekend rounding rotation
  • Weekend schedules established in advance
  • Behavioral health program with 48 inpatient beds across separate adult, geriatric, and child/adolescent services
  • Strong interdisciplinary support from psychiatrists, behavioral health nurses, social workers, therapists and medical consultants
  • Close collaboration with emergency psychiatry, consult-liaison psychiatry, addiction medicine, PHP/IOP, and outpatient behavioral health services
  • Opportunities to participate in quality improvement, patient safety, clinical operations, and behavioral health program development
  • Epic electronic health record used throughout Northwestern Medicine
  • Collegial and collaborative environment

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults receiving inpatient psychiatric care
  • Lead daily interdisciplinary treatment-planning rounds
  • Develop and oversee individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
  • Provide psychopharmacologic management, risk assessment, crisis stabilization, and discharge planning
  • Collaborate with nursing, social work, therapy, hospital medicine, pharmacy, and other consulting services
  • Coordinate safe and timely transitions of care with emergency, outpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and community-based services
  • Participate in initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical quality, length of stay, patient experience, and continuity of care
  • Contribute to a respectful, accountable, and collaborative team culture
