Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Department Chair and Medical Director in a dynamic surgical environment
  • Consult with patients to discuss optimal surgical options and outline associated risks and benefits
  • Review surgical methods with patients to enhance postoperative outcomes
  • Provide exceptional patient care throughout the surgical process
  • Engage in administrative tasks related to departmental operations
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to remain current with best practices in Bariatric surgery
  • Contribute to quality assurance efforts within the surgical department

Full Job Description
Under the supervision and collaboration with the Chair and Medical Director, Department of Surgery, is responsible for clinical and administrative responsibilities as full time Physician, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeon. Meet with patients and provide them with the best surgical options outlining all the risks and benefits associated with the surgical procedure prior to the procedure. The Surgeon will review with the patient the method of surgery that should be most successful in achieving the desired outcome.

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • Completion of an ACGME approved General Surgery Residency Program and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in performing Bariatric Surgical procedures.
  • New York State Licensed Physician
  • New York Department of Health Certificate of Qualification
  • Certification from the American Board of Surgery
  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
  • Excellent communication and management skills
  • Experience with change management
