Harborview Medical Center's (HMC) Rehab Medicine clinic has an outstanding opportunity for an ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant.

WORK SCHEDULE:
• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• M-F Day Shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic at Harborview Medical Center offers comprehensive care for adults recovering from spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, amputations and COVID-19. We offer follow-up care for UW Medicine patients discharged from our acute care and rehabilitation unit. We also offer post-COVID rehabilitation and recovery care for patients who have recovered from an active infection of COVID-19 but continue to have lingering symptoms.

Patients are the center of our multidisciplinary team. Care team members include doctors who specialize in rehabilitation medicine (physiatrists), rehabilitation nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, patient care coordinators, therapeutic recreation specialists, vocational rehabilitation counselors, rehabilitation psychologists and social workers.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides comprehensive assessments of complex/specialized patients, and when appropriate, their families.
• Supports the multidisciplinary team to include the ampution/limb loss patient population, Brain Injury, Spinal cord injuries, stroke and wound care.
• Obtains and records medical histories, performs physical examinations, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, establishes diagnosis and follows current standards of practice for prescribing medications and/or establishing treatment protocols. Recognizes own limitations and consults when appropriate.
• Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment and works in collaboration with the physician to develop management and treatment plans.
• Documents findings, reports and plans of care including needed patient education and appropriate follow up of care in the medical record.
• Performs efficiently during emergency situations, using sound judgment and following established protocol.
• Participates in the QA and process improvement activities of the clinic. Shares in the improvement in quality of patient care through participation in committees, implementation of new trends in nursing or medical care, and by contributing suggestions for improvement in organized delivery of care.
• Participates in an interdepartmental effort to facilitate a safe environment for staff and patient care.
• Follows clinic standards on the use of safety equipment and regulations for personnel (i.e., blood borne pathogens, TB, etc.).
• Assists in the training of various levels of health care professionals.
• Delegates tasks and duties for the purpose of coordinating effective and efficient health care.
• Develops and maintains relationships with clinic staff, clinic manager, clinic medical director, interdisciplinary patient care teams and other hospital staff to ensure maximizing positive department and employee relationships.
• Utilizes appropriate lines of authority to maintain effective communication.
• Supports and advocates the mission and objectives of the medical center and division and assists in interpreting these to patients, visitors and the community.
• Demonstrates professional responsibility and leadership through participation in hospital, University and professional opportunities.
• Demonstrates responsibility for own professional growth through pursuit of work related experiences and educational opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Nurse Practitioner:
Master's Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
AND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
AND National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
AND ACLS certification

OR
• Physician Assistant:
Licensure as a Physician's Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA).
Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions.
