Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures.
  • Perform patient evaluations, including progress notes and consultations.
  • Issue and transcribe diagnostic orders and prescriptions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on working diagnoses.
  • Monitor therapeutic interventions for effectiveness.
  • Conduct patient evaluations during hospital rounds.
  • Handle emergency evaluations independently.
  • Ensure readiness of operating room equipment and materials.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule as needed.
  • Provide patient counseling and education.
  • Perform clinical duties, including wound care and injections.

Full Job Description
Southlake Orthopaedics is looking for a full time Physician Assistant to join our team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the surgeon in surgery
  • Perform patient progress notes, history and physical intake, triage, and consults.
  • Issue and transcribe diagnostic orders and prescriptions.
  • Formulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluate patient status during hospital rounds.
  • Perform independent evaluations in emergency situations.
  • Verify operating room equipment and materials are in a state of readiness.
  • Participate in on-call schedule.
  • Offer counseling and education to patients as needed.
  • Performs clinical duties including, but not limited to, wound care, injections, draw labs, apply and remove dressings/bandages, casting, etc.
  • Performs any additional work-related tasks as needed, including, but not limited to, taking nurse calls, escorting patients from the waiting area, scanning, importing disks, and room prep.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant from a program accredited by the ARC-PA required
  • Successful completion of PANCE required
  • Unrestricted license (or eligibility to apply for licensure) to practice in the state of Alabama required
  • 2 years of Orthopaedic surgery experience preferred
