Job Summary
Office of Clinical Research (OCR) Center for Clinical Investigation (CCI) Physician Assistant
The CCI physician assistant serves as integral members of a multidisciplinary team to provide routine and specialized research procedures and services to Harvard-affiliated research investigators. This position is responsible, within the legal limitations, for assisting the physician staff of the Center in the provision of research services in a variety of treatment areas including the main ED, hospital clinics, inpatient units, and discrete inpatient and outpatient research centers. The PA must work collaboratively with CCI coworkers and study team members by utilizing advanced practice skills and knowledge to effectively enhance the clinical, consultation, education, and research services provided by the Center. The PA will provide care for a broad range of patients with various diagnoses. The PA will administer various study treatments including study drugs, immunotherapy, and CAR-T.
Work areas will include the Center for Clinical Investigation discrete inpatient and outpatient units, hospital clinics, and various inpatient units, including but not limited to the Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, and the Cancer Center.
Job responsibilities will require significant amounts of standing, moving between rooms and floors, and communicating verbally and in writing with colleagues, patients, and family members. Patient care responsibilities will require standard precautions, and in some cases additional precautions as necessary.
Qualifications
Education Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
Licenses and Credentials Physician Assistant MA PA required
Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred . Clinical research experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings. - Hands on clinical skills including IV placement/phlebotomy experience preferred. Ability to maintain quality control standards. - Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. - Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. - Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
