Full Job Description
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work within a treatment team to help provide coordinated mental/behavioral health care to patients.
  • Provide documentation of patient care in accordance with AWARE policy and professional standards, utilizing AWARE's electronic health record as outlined, trained, and assigned.
  • Create psychiatric care plans and integrate with existing behavioral/psychotherapeutic plans/
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe appropriate psychiatric medications as indicated.
  • Recognize physical health issues and refer for patients for care as necessary.
  • Be available to teams as a resource regarding medications and treatments.
  • Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Act as an advocate for patients both within and outside of the organization.
  • Provide education and support to staff, patients, and families on managing psychiatric illness and disability.
  • Maintain licensure and certification required by AWARE, the State of Montana, and the federal government.
  • Participates in peer/record review process and other quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Performs at or above productivity benchmarks identified by AWARE so that services are sustainable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Talents, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge and commensurate skills in providing psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults, including those with co-existing intellectual / developmental disabilities.
  • Accurate and effective written and verbal communication skills, and comfort working as part of, and sharing decision-making with, a therapeutic team.
  • Master's degree from an accredited physician assistant program;
  • Must have APRN licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and be board certified;
  • Physician Assistant - Certified credential issued by the NCCPA and a post-graduate fellowship in psychiatry/mental health, Psychiatry Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ), or two (2) plus years of post-graduate, full-time, direct psychiatric clinical experience
  • Must have prescriptive authorization
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology; readiness to learn and adapt to new technology as it is adopted by AWARE, and to provide input to the selection and implementation of such technology
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with partners at various levels: patients, family members, physicians, members of the treatment team, and representatives of the community;
  • Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
