OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Physcian Assistant II to contribute to our mission supporting our work at Los Alamos National Lab in Los Alamos, NM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists Laboratory occupational physicians in areas including, but not necessarily limited to: carrying out treatments, determining and arranging proper patient dispositions, identifying and correcting workplace medical issues, and counseling and educating employees on health-related issues.
- A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of specialized area plus working knowledge of other related fields.
- Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.

- Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Contributes to the development of organization's goals and objectives. Failure to obtain results or erroneous judgments/recommendations would normally have serious results and may require substantial expenditure of resources to correct and/or achieve project goals.
- Incumbent networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
- Requires limited responsibility for making routine contacts on general matters outside of the immediate organization.
- Works under limited direction; receives general instructions on new assignments.
- Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Determines approach to solutions, plans schedule and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.
Education and Licensure
- Board certified PA-C through the NCCPA.
- Licensed to practice medicine by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners.
- Current New Mexico pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 - 5 yearsof relevant experienceor equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Working knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in occupational medicine of recent clinical experience in occupational medicine.
- Working knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in a clinically related field (family medicine, emergency/urgent care medicine, internal medicine, or sports medicine)
- Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.(required)
- Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance.(required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & LOCATION DETAILS:
This position follows a 3x12 schedule, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. The role requires availability for night, weekend, and other non-standard hours as needed.
