What You Will Do:We are looking for a Physician Assistant to support clinical research and patient care activities within the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Division of Intramural Research. This position is a full-time role located in Bethesda, Maryland, supporting the Office of the Clinical Director.
- Provide clinical care to patients enrolled in biomedical research studies in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Identify and communicate the impact of research processes on patient care and adjust interventions based on findings.
- Administer research interventions, collect protocol-driven patient data, and evaluate patient response to treatment.
- Obtain informed consent and complete required research documentation for clinical trial participants.
- Manage and address ethical considerations in a clinical research environment.
- Participate in protocol amendments, monitoring visits, and serve as a liaison for protocol navigators.
- Act as a clinical leader and subject matter expert, providing consultation to physicians, nurses, and external healthcare professionals.
- Integrate evidence-based practice into clinical decision-making and evaluate patient outcomes.
- Support organizational goals, including NHLBI DIR and Office of the Clinical Director initiatives.
- Provide leadership in developing standards of practice, policies, and interpretation of research findings in clinical settings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to deliver comprehensive care.
- Perform medical management tasks including admissions, discharges, consults, and progress notes in a timely manner.
- Communicate patient care plans and recommendations effectively with attending physicians and care teams.
- Conduct patient and family education using individualized teaching approaches.
- Advocate for patient rights and ensure patient safety principles are upheld.
- Participate in clinical rounds, meetings, and referrals to meet patient care needs.
- Contribute to scientific presentations, publications, and research-related projects.
What You Will Need:- Bachelor's Degree
- A minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in a clinical or research setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of biomedical research processes and clinical trial protocols.
- Ability to manage complex and acute patient populations in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Experience integrating evidence-based practice into clinical care.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

What Would Be Nice To Have:- Prior experience working in federal research environments such as NIH or academic medical centers.
- Experience supporting hematology or blood-related research protocols.
- Prior involvement in clinical trial protocol development or amendments.
- Experience presenting research findings at scientific meetings or contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00-$141,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
