Pay Range: $125,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Physician Assistant will primarily provide care to the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care service lines. PA will also be also occasionally provide coverage for the General Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, and Uro/GYN services when needed.

PA will provide acute health care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to restore, maintain, and improve the health status of patients. Provides pre-operative, operative, and post-operative patient care, under the direction and supervision of the attending surgeon and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the state Physician Assistant Act. PA will respond to trauma alerts and participate in the evaluation and resuscitation of all trauma patients . PA will observe and care for the inpatient service, inform the attending surgeon of patient condition, and participate in daily rounds.

Scheduling Requirements:
  • Full Time
  • Rotating day/ night shifts


Essential Functions:
  • Performs and obtains a completed medical history and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings.
  • Assists physicians by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders, and transcribes orders.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for patients.
  • Develops plan of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports to physicians and family.
  • Interviews, instructs and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Documents and maintains patient records of services provided according to facility standards
  • Establishes a collaborative relationship with other medical providers.
  • Performs routine therapeutic procedures, which have been ordered, prescribed or directed by supervising physician, and may include insertion of central venous access, arterial access, percutaneous and closed chest thoracostomy tube insertion, laceration repair, incise and drain wounds
  • Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
  • Issues prescriptions to patients based on Federal & State Regulations.
  • Participates in the development of protocols.
  • Reviews and audits charts routinely.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through attendance and/or participation in CME programs.
  • Billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations.
