Responsibilities

Provides comprehensive primary care services across the lifespan, including preventive care, acute illness evaluation and treatment, chronic disease management, same-day access visits, and care coordination. Maintains an assigned patient panel while collaborating closely with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to provide timely, high-quality, patient-centered care. Performs and documents comprehensive assessments; develops diagnostic and treatment plans; orders, interprets, and communicates laboratory and imaging results; prescribes therapies within scope of practice; performs procedures consistent with credentialing and scope of practice; and coordinates care with specialists and other healthcare providers as appropriate.

Collaborates with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary team members on quality improvement, patient safety, population health, care management, clinical protocol development, and operational improvement initiatives. Participates in required clinic, departmental, and provider meetings and contributes to efforts that improve patient outcomes, access, efficiency, and patient experience. Addresses abnormal results and findings as needed in coordination with the patient's assigned physician. Develops relationships with patients as needed as a collaborating clinician, particularly for patient populations whose primary physician is in clinic for limited times.

Serves as a clinical resource for patients, families, staff, and the community. Provides patient and family education, supports self-management and preventive care, and assesses educational needs of clinical staff and learners. Participates in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, advanced practice providers, and other learners affiliated with FSU College of Medicine as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited PA training program.
  • Current valid Florida Physician Assistant as outlined in Chapter 458, Florida Statutes; or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain licensure in Florida within 30 days of hire.
  • Current NCCPA board certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Current DEA license or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification by certifying agency, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
  • Post-job offer, but prior to hire, the following will be required:
    • Current PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) test as performed by a qualified physician from within the past 6 months.
    • Physical examination completed by a qualified healthcare provider/physician from within the past 6 months.
  • Within 30 days of hire, you must provide:
    • Documentation of vaccination for Tetanus within the last 10 years.
    • Proof of immunization OR positive titers for Hepatitis B.
