Position: Physician Assistant

Specialty: Family Medicine

Location: Portage, IN

Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate of accredited PA school. Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current active licensure to practice as a PA in the State of Indiana.
  • Board Certification is required to be granted necessary hospital privileges for employment
  • Current BLS. Current ACLS and/or ATLS for PA's working in Surgery.
  • 1-2 years experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Conveys positive attitude and image internally throughout Community Healthcare System and externally within the community
  • Requires self-direction, leadership, delegation, organization, and teaching ability
  • Communicates tactfully and effectively with physicians, patients, families, nursing staff, other hospital/clinic departments, and the public
  • Demonstrates a professional, positive, flexible and open minded manner with a willingness and desire to go the extra mile
  • Knowledge of professional theory, practice, and medical care to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients. Knowledge of patient education principles to develop self-care programs.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional PA's to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency work situations; able to prioritize patients according to their clinical needs; strong time management skills to balance both patient care and chart completion
