Responsibilities

  • Perform surgical asepsis procedures such as scrubbing, gowning, and gloving
  • Conduct preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care
  • Assist cardiothoracic surgeon as the first assist in the OR
  • Harvest endoscopic saphenous veins and radial arteries
  • Manage removal of chest tubes, drains, and pacemaker wires; treat incision sites
  • Conduct daily rounds with the medical team
  • Fulfill hospital and surgical call duties
  • Serve in clinic responsibilities

Full Job Description
  • Pre-Employment Requirements:
    • We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.
  • Job Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
    • Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • ACLS certification.
    • Current DEA registration required.
    • Cardiac Surgery experience preferred.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Performs surgical asepsis including scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and monitoring aseptic technique.
    • Performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
    • First assists cardiothoracic surgeon in the operating room.
    • Performs endoscopic saphenous vein and radial artery harvesting.
    • Removes chest tubes, drains, pacemaker wires, and assesses and treats incision sites.
    • Performs and participates in daily rounds.
    • Hospital and surgical call responsibilities.
    • Clinic responsibilities.
