As a Physical Security Specialist at the GS-0080-12 level, some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Conducting testing of security and screening equipment (e.g., walk-thru metal detectors, x -ray machines, explosive trace detection units, handheld metal detectors, duress alarms, cameras, intercoms, entry control packages, etc.).
- Conveying complex security requirements and recommendations.
- Planning, scheduling, coordinating, and carrying out Judicial Security work.

QualificationsGS-12 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 grade level.
(Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).You may qualify at the GS-0080-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service that includes; 1.) Inspecting and ensuring the proper installation, function, and maintenance of security equipment; AND 2.) Assessing difficult and complex security problems, including analyzing alternatives to recommend corrective actions; AND 3.) Testing security and screening equipment to evaluate security vulnerabilities.
