Summary

You will serve as a Physical Scientist in the Warfighting Support Center (NP2) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Duties

Help

  • You will act as a Senior Geospatial Analyst (GIS) by merging METOC datasets based on military defined threshold and fused with intelligence data.
  • You will maintain and update knowledge of current remote sensing capabilities, environmental quality, bathymetry/hydrography, etc, through various methods such as personal contacts, literature reviews, and formal training.
  • You will participate in survey travel 2 times per year in a lead role.
  • You will help conduct tests and evaluations of new software or algorithms that are developed and delivered for automating production.
  • You will develop new data management/merging/categorizing data for production required for operational use and assists incorporating data into Geospatial Intelligence formats.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.


Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience independently leading scientific projects from concept to completion.
  • Experience managing, manipulating, and disseminating complex geospatial and scientific data using geospatial (GIS) tools and comprehensive metadata practices to ensure data interoperability.
  • Experience presenting complex scientific and technical information, including advising senior leadership on topics such as policy and program direction.
  • Experience providing technical guidance on proper analysis and data fusion techniques to junior team members.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
    or
  2. Combination of education and experience education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
