Full Job Description
Direct Orthopedic Care (DOC) is seeking a Pain Management Physician to join our growing multidisciplinary practice focused on interventional pain management, physical therapy, orthopedic care, and function-based recovery.

This role combines direct guest care with clinical leadership, including oversight and development of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The physician will work in a highly integrated environment with access to in-house imaging, physical therapy, and orthopedic specialists.

Practice Environment

  • Immediate access to an existing guest population and referral stream

Physician Responsibilities

Clinical Care
  • Evaluate guests in-office and via telemedicine
  • Obtain histories and perform physical exams when guests are seen in person
  • Develop individualized treatment plans
  • Interpret and document in-house X-ray findings
  • Order appropriate imaging, labs, and specialty referrals
  • Perform and prescribe interventional pain procedures
  • Prescribe non-opioid medications when clinically indicated
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation in DOC's EMR
  • Learn and maintain EMR templates to support efficient, standardized documentation

Call & Availability
  • Be available for after-hours and weekend emergencies, which are extremely rare

APP Oversight & Leadership

The Pain Management Physician will provide clinical oversight and leadership for APPs within the DOC Pain Management Department, including:

Service Line & Operational Leadership

The physician will meet routinely with DOC's Vice President of Clinical Operations to:
  • Review service-line reports
  • Analyze Key Performance Indicators
  • Develop strategies to improve service-line performance, access, guest outcomes, and operational efficiency

Ideal Candidate
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pain Medicine, or board-certified in a related specialty with interventional pain training
  • Physicians with backgrounds in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), Anesthesiology, or related specialties are encouraged to apply
  • Strong interest in non-opioid, function-focused pain care
  • Comfortable supervising and developing APPs
  • Collaborative, data-driven, and interested in operational improvement
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Committed to timely, guest-centered care in a multidisciplinary environment
