POSITION: Physical Education Teacher - Elementary

REPORTS TO: School Principal

SALARY: $58,295 - $109,874 DOE based on OBEA 2026-27 salary schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS:A valid Washington State teaching certificate with
Elementary Education endorsement or Physical Education endorsement with experience teaching young children.
- Demonstrated success in the teaching of physical education to elementary students using a variety of instructional strategies
- Knowledge of Washington State Health and Fitness Standards and the ability to integrate them into the classroom
- Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in elementary curriculum and instructional strategies
- Demonstrated ability to use multiple technology equipment and/or software in the classroom
- Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to students' interests, learning styles and developmental levels
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to work cooperatively with administration and staff
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to work effectively with students and parents
- Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students and ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students
- Experience with diversity preferred
- ELL/ Bilingual endorsements preferred
- Demonstrated desire to continue professional growth
- Demonstrated punctual and consistent attendance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS . . . - Teach successfully in all of the elementary curricular areas
- Organize programs to provide for individual differences including highly capable and students with disabilities
- Communicate and interpret the school program to parents and patrons
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of growth and development of elementary children by using developmentally appropriate practices
- Work effectively with colleagues and administrators to accomplish building and district goals
- Communicate progress to parents and students and work collaboratively with other teachers
- Maintain appropriate student records
- Use a variety of teaching materials, technology and strategy in implementing classroom instruction
- Demonstrate skill in designing and using classroom assessment
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in organizing and maintaining the educational setting
- Demonstrate personal traits which make him/her a good model for students
- Demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching
- Demonstrate a willingness to accept both routine and special tasks
- Maintain appropriate balance of control and freedom in the classroom
- Implement the School Improvement Plan into the classroom.
- Assist with co-curricular activities as necessary
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a Professional Learning Community
- Implement the requirements of IDEA, Sec. 504 and ADA in the education of students with disabilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, move about, hear and

The employee must regularly lift and carry items weighting up to 50 pounds or more and occasionally lift, restrain, or move up to 100 pounds - most typically when required to intervene in student safety issues.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.
The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
