Job Description

The role will manage the procurement & inventory planning of pharmacy medications and collaborate closely with Pharmacy Managers in the areas of drug policy, information technology, business management, ambulatory services, and specialty pharmacy and inpatient operations.This role will also lead and support strategic & tactical initiatives to improve supply chain performance, across the MSHS network level, as required.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure all pharmaceutical products and supplies are purchased through authorized vendors; determines the appropriate quantities and time to replenish products and supplies in accordance with established policies.

2. Collaborates with the Finance Division to resolve invoice discrepancies before payments are submitted to vendors.

3. Researches product and/or supply substitutes and makes recommendations to the department director to purchase from local wholesalers when original orders are delinquent.

4. Interviews pharmaceutical representatives to discuss new products, to obtain price and bid information and to discuss potential manufacturing problems that could adversely impact the organization.

5. Ensures the recording of expiration dates for perishable supplies and products; takes appropriate action(s) such as arranging for disposal and returning them to the vendor.

6. Ensures maintenance record and files are maintained including inventory records, purchase orders, status of shipment, returned products and supplies, vendor contracts and other relevant documents. Reviews and ensures price changes are updated in the Drug Master Listing.

7. Collaborates with the Purchasing Department to coordinate the department's activities; sets up all Joint Purchasing Corporation contractual agreements and provides data to the Corporation for future bids.

8. Recommends generic and/or equivalent pharmacological drugs and substitutions for current products.

9. Manages various personnel functions such as hiring, performance appraisals, coaching, disciplinary actions and terminations.

10. Performs other related duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Science discipline preferred

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $86,772.00 - $130,159.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
