Pharmacy Quality Assurance Coordinator (Pharmacist 4).
WORK SCHEDULE- Full-Time / 40 hours per week

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS- Direct, develop, implement and evaluate quality assurance programs for compounded sterile products across UW Medicine Pharmacies and is responsible for coordinating and managing the interpretation and reporting of microbiological test results, environmental monitoring test results, end product test results, and test results from sterile compounding room staff.
- Responsibilities include working with area managers and compounding staff to design and implement all quality assurance policies, standards and performance of all tests in accordance with the pharmacy department's standard operating procedures.
- The position requires working independently in a highly efficient and organized manner to ensure timely review and action of results and reports.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES• Develop, implement and maintain, in collaboration with pharmacy managers, training programs and competency assessments designed to ensure a high level of expertise in the compounding of sterile products for pharmacy personnel.
• Direct UW Medicine Department of Pharmacy's quality assurance programs for compounded sterile products.
• Promote and coordinate initiatives to maintain safe and appropriate conditions within iso-classified cleanrooms throughout UW Medicine Department of Pharmacy.
• Maintain responsibility for advising the pharmacy managers and directors of pharmacy on all quality matters related to the preparation of sterile products.
• Provide management and project reports as required.
• Assume other responsibilities in the management of the pharmacy department quality assurance program as delegated.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of technical advances and current practice standards in quality assurance in the field of sterile compounding and microbiology.
• Responsibility for evaluating microbial environmental testing of air, surfaces and personnel as outlined in USP standards.
• Work with equipment, quality assurance and 503B vendors associated with the sterile compounding program. This includes assisting in the assessment and selection of vendors, site visits, and follow-up for customer service issues.
• Provide guidance on sterile compounding facility design.
• Work collaboratively with the Medication Safety Officers and Pharmacy Managers to assess departmental metrics with regards to quality assurance initiatives.
• Assist with creating and maintaining policies and standard operating procedures for the UW Medicine pharmacy department's compounded sterile product quality assurance program.
• Responsibility for quality control, quality assurance, problem solving, error review and regulatory compliance for all actions related to sterile product preparation.
DESIRED:• Prior experience leading a health-system sterile compounding area.
• Demonstrated experience communicating and collaborating effectively in a health-system environment.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONSThree years experience in pharmacy practice. Months spent in the completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists accredited residency training program may substitute month-for-month for the experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTState of Washington Pharmacist License
