Pharmacy Operations Manager

Center for Learning and Innovation

Full-Time | Exempt

The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the business operations for all La Clinica pharmacy services to ensure high quality, outstanding customer service, care team and patient engagement, pharmacy promotion, operational workflow alignment and optimization of revenue. The Pharmacy Operations Manager works collaboratively with Pharmacy Director and Pharmacists in Charge (PIC) for quality assurance and sets operational targets for financial integrity and growth opportunities.

Accountabilities Include:

Performs Essential Job Duties

Program Leadership:
  • Uses knowledge of business management practices and data to influence the operations and growth of pharmacy services.
  • Sets short- and long-range goals and outcome targets in alignment with La Clinica's mission and values.
  • Responsible for overall pharmacy function including the following: patient utilization of pharmacy services, patient satisfaction, financial viability; collaborates with key members of management team to define and achieve key performance indicators and goals; creates action plans to ensure goals are met.
  • Develops annual department operating budget; and regularly evaluate expenses and revenues.
  • Uses quality improvement practices and data driven problem-solving methods to improve and develop procedures focusing on improving pharmacy flow and maximizing work efficiencies to reach target financial quality goals.
  • Develops and implements systems for the collection of customer feedback to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures professionalism, productivity, performance, and efficiency of contracted services/pharmacy staff.
  • Ensures efficient and effective inventory management in collaboration with Pharmacy Director and pharmacists in charge (PIC) and practice managers
  • Drives performance-based targets to improve effective financial return and high-quality patient outcomes in collaboration with Pharmacy Director.


  • Coordinates and oversees pharmacy delivery services including data collection and program evaluation.
  • Consult and collaborate with Pharmacy Director and other disciplines involved in the delivery of patient care for development of programs, services, and grants.
  • Collaborates with Process Improvement team and care teams to adapt or design and implement workflows that improve quality of care and help the organization reach health outcome benchmarks/targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulatory requirements, including the 340B program in collaboration with the Pharmacy Director. Pharmacists in Charge and Quality Department, and Patient Support Services Director
  • All Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Clerks report directly to the Pharmacy Operations Manager. Pharmacy technician development is completed in collaboration with the Pharmacists in Charge.
  • Facilitates program evaluation for 340B contract services and makes continuation recommendations.

Staff Development:
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training pharmacy clerks and technicians.
  • Mentors, engages, and motivates teams to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Responsible for performance management and improvement activities.

Program Management:
  • Establishes and ensures team key performance indicators are met and reported on time.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with care teams to ensure all elements of standard pharmacy workflows are effective.
  • Coordinates relationship with third-party vendor for the purpose of prescription delivery.
  • Evaluates contract services and provides recommendations to Chief Operations Officer.
  • Reviews and interprets the regulations, guidelines, and contracts of the various entities requiring data including CCO's, HRSA, OHA, APCM, PCPCH and other programs as indicated.

Education and/or Experience:

Required:
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in business administration, other related field, or a combination of education an experience
  • 3-5 years of leadership and/or management experience.
  • Project management experience.


  • Skilled at workflow development and utilization of data to make informed decisions
  • Pharmacy technician license obtained within 9 months of hire.

Preferred:
  • Experience in pharmacy operations management.
  • Experience working with vulnerable, diverse populations.
